KOKRAJHAR: Bodoland Janajati Suraksha Mancha (BJSM) has warned that it will take legal course of action against the general secretary of All Assam Tribal Sangha (AATS), Aditya Khakhlary. In a statement issued by president Janaklal Basumatary and working president DD Narzary, it was stated that a meeting of the Mancha was held at Kokrajhar Basic Training Centre on August 19 where it was decided to take legal action against Khakhlary for his anti-tribal activities and for illegally issuing tribal certificates to non-notified communities. Khakhlary had allegedly issued ST certificates to non-notified Saranias under ‘Barman Kachari’. He was trying to justify his actions by saying that he was working as per government directives, they said, adding that according to law, no one was authorized to issue ST certificates to non-notified communities.

The tribal leaders said the Gauhati High Court had already given an order to stop issuing ST certificates to Saranias as they were not a notified community. The order was sent to the district administrations and Tribal Sangha but despite this fact, Khakhlary was going on issuing ST certificates to non-notified communities. They said the Mancha would take necessary measures to drag Khakhlary to court for his rampant violation of law and for working against the interest of tribal people of Assam.
