KOKRAJHAR: The Bodoland People's Front (BPF) led by Hagrama Mohilary has once again made a clean sweep both in Kokrajhar and Chirang in the 4th BTC election and is likely to stake claim to form the next government for the fourth consecutive term.
In Kokrajhar, the BPF was leading in 10 seats out of 12 till the 8th round while the remaining seats are certain to go to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress. The BPF candidates from Debargaon, Salakati, Baokhungri, Banargaon, Kachugaon, Saraibil, Guma, Jomduar, Porbhotjhora and Dotma are almost certain to win the poll battle while the BJP and Congress are leading with big margins in Fakiragram and Srirampur respectively.
In Chirang district, the BPF has grabbed 5 out of total 7 seats and the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) and BJP got one each. The BPF captured Kajalgaon, 13-Chirang, Nichima, Subaijhar and Manas Serfang while UPPL and BJP won from Chirang Duar and Thuribari constituency respectively.
Former deputy chief of BTC, Kampa Borgoyari has lost to UPPL candidate and former general secretary of NDFB (S), Ranjit Basumatary while BPF president and former BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary won from both Debargaon and Kachugaon.
