Bongaigaon DC inaugurated special comfort room facility 'Pokhila' for mother & baby

Considering the various problems faced by the women employees and female visitors of DC Office, Bongaigaon in terms of breast feeding and other baby care issues

BONGAIGAON: Considering the various problems faced by the women employees and female visitors of DC Office, Bongaigaon in terms of breast feeding and other baby care issues, the Deputy Commissioner of Bongaigaon, Dr. M.S. Lakshmi Priya on Wednesday inaugurated a special comfort room facility named Pokhila for mother and baby with all necessary amenities in the ground floor of the DC's office, Bongaigaon.

The entire idea of the comfort room is purely the brainchild of the Bongaigaon Deputy Commissioner. This special room has facilities like private corner for breast feeding, baby bed, items for playing, comfortable space to rest for the mother and clean toilet facility.

Speaking at the event, the Bongaigaon Deputy Commissioner said that at many times women employees and the female visitors of DC office had been seen facing many problems due to absence of a private space to breast feed their babies or to change the diapers or to rest. Keeping that in mind, this facility has been started as a beginning at the DC office and other government offices are also likely to start this service very soon in their office premises. The Bongaigaon Deputy Commissioner further extended her words of appreciation to ADC Nazrat and EO, Bongaigaon MB who offered all possible assistance in making her concept of such a special comfort room a reality.
