Bongaigaon Deputy Commissioner stresses reducing maternal mortality rate

BONGAIGAON: A review meeting of the health department was held in the conference hall of the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Bongaigaon on Tuesday, which was chaired by Dr. M S Lakshmi Priya, Deputy Commissioner of the district.

After the review meeting, the Deputy Commissioner asks the medical officers concerned to make delivery points functional and to monitor them. Life sheet of all delivery points should be done. Audit should be done of every data, cause of death should be found out and revised action should be planned. Institutional delivery should be 100 per cent in the district and maternal mortality rate should be reduced, said the DC. For this, doctors and nurses should be dedicated. Anemia patients should be identified and proper treatment should be ensured. The Deputy Commissioner asked the District Program Manager and Joint Director of Health Services of Bongaigaon to submit proposal for Primary Health Centre or sub-centre if necessary in comparison to population. The main target is 100 per cent institutional delivery. The Deputy Commissioner also asked pediatricians to improve child care and immunization so that child death could be reduced in the district.
