Bongaigaon remembers Dhemaji bomb blast victims, observed Shok Divas

BONGAIGAON: In synchronization with the mourning across the State, like previous years, the Bongaigaon district administration observed Shok Divas, i.e. the Day of Grief to mourn the death of children and others in a bomb blast at the parade ground while attending Independence Day celebrations in Dhemaji district in the year 2004.

Dr. Lakshmi Priya, DC Bongaigaon at a programme on Sunday at 11 am in the DC's Office conference hall administered a pledge to officers and staff against all acts of terrorism and militant violence and to work unitedly for peace and harmony followed by one-minute silence and floral tributes to the departed souls. The tricolour was flown at half mast at all government establishments.

District Development Commissioner Syed Md. Zahid Chistie, Additional Deputy Commissioners Omar Sharif and Rintu Ch. Boro, Assistant Commissioners Shivansh Awasthi, Masum Yusuf Ahmed and Benu Mushahary and several other officials were present on the occasion.
