Bongaigoan administration launches mobile app to motivate voters

Guwahati: The Bongaigaon district administration has developed an exclusive mobile phone application (mobile app) to motivate voters especially for the first time voters to exercise their franchise in the Lok Sabha polls.

A tutorial video has been made for the mobile app 'Sankalp' on how to use an Electronic Voting Machine. Through the app, the users can also check their electoral roll details.

Bongaigaon Deputy Commissioner Adil Khan said that it is a resolve to increase the voter awareness among the youth in Bongaigaon and will ask to take a pledge through this app that they will be voting in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The mobile app which has been designed and conceptualised by an in-house team of NIC engineers under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner will work as an interactive tool between the users and the election machinery.

The official stated that the app has been developed with an objective of reaching out to the maximum number of people. He also said that the app is attractive and it will serve as a two-way communication tool and that they have targeted one lakh downloads.

The official also said that at the time when the engineers were designing this exclusive app it was already linked with the digitized electoral roll of the district. The DC further said that not a single penny was spent in developing the Sankalp app as it was done by the district's NIC team and two assistant commissioners under his guidance. The DC further said that the app has a two-way communication system and they keep on informing the voters about the electoral initiatives while the users can also send their feedback.

The District Election Officer (DEO) is also personally sending a message to the first time voters appealing them to exercise their franchise.

The district of Bongaigaon has 11,000 first time voters of the 1.7lakh voters in total and it will go to poll on April 23 the third phase of Assam polls.
