JOYSAGAR: The Borbill (Mahmora) Primary Health Centre (PHC) was formally inaugurated on Tuesday by Mahmora MLA Jogen Mohan at a meeting held in the Borbill PHC premises. Charaideo Deputy Commissioner BN Phukan presided over the meeting. Addressing the gathering, the MLA said that the BJP-led government was focusing on offering better health facilities to the poor. Assam was still facing challenges in the health sector and shortage of doctors was one of them, said the MLA. But the State Health Department would fill up all the vacant posts of doctors throughout the State by 2020, he assured. Sivasagar Joint Director of Health Services, Charaideo SDO, Charaideo District BJP president and many other dignitaries spoke at the inaugural function. Meanwhile, Jorhat Lok Sabha MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa visited the Amgurighat PHC and the Namti PHC on Tuesday and assessed the functioning of these health centres. The MP asked the staff to be dedicated in their services. He assured the authorities to improve electricity supply, drinking water supply and the infrastructure of the PHCs. Tasa also interacted with the patients.
