KALAIGAON: Bodoland People's Front (BPF) president Hagrama Mohilary on Saturday said that the BPF would come back to power with huge majority in the BTC. Further, he said that the BPF was the only party which had strong support base from all communities. Addressing a mass gathering of over 10,000 people at Kabirali Higher Secondary School playground under Harishinga BTC constituency in Udalguri district on Saturday, Mohilary promised voters 'peace, inclusive growth and development' if the ruling BPF is voted back to power. The development measures included establishment of land registrar office in each of the four district and sub-divisional headquarters where land pattas would be provided to those residing on government land in BTC before February 10 in 2003.
The meeting was organized by Harishinga Block BPF in Kabirali Higher Secondary School playground for Harishinga Territorial Constituency BPF candidate Tridip Daimary. Mohilary said that the BJP would not be able to form government in BTC. He lambasted United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) president Pramod Boro for inking the 3rd Bodo Accord without taking into consideration the views of stakeholders of non-Bodo communities residing in the Bodo belt. He further said that the 3rd Bodo Accord was nothing but 'rotten egg' as it was just about renaming the BTC
Mohilary also said, "Himanta Biswa Sarma is trying to create a clash between Bodo and non-Bodo people of BTR. He wants to take political benefit from this clash." Mohilary claimed that the BPF would form the government for the fourth consecutive term and asserted that BPF would secure all the 10 BTC constituency seats of Udalguri district and exhorted the people to vote for the BPF in the forthcoming BTC polls.
The massive election meeting of BPF was attended by State PHE Minister Rihon Daimary. He said that the Mohilary-led BPF had never indulged in dirty politics and had always tried to maintain communal harmony in the region. He said that the Opposition parties were trying to polarize the society in the name of community and religion to secure votes. He made a fervent appeal to the people not to fall into the trap of such nasty politics. He urged people to vote for Harishinga BTC constituency BPF candidate, Tridip Daimary.
