SILCHAR: A lovelorn teenager tribal girl who was eloping from her native village of Manu in Dholai district of Tripura with her boy friend, also a tribal, by train was detained at Badarpur railway junction in a joint raid by BSF and RPF on Wednesday night. According to police source, the teenaged boy and girl in love were accompanied by other two youths and one woman, all tribal, who were, in fact, working as informants of BSF. The teenagers keeping their parents in dark have left home. But their sojourn got a jolt as BSF intelligence had prior information about their misadventure.

BSF jawans of Cachar-Mizoram Frontier and Karimganj BSF Intelligence carried out the raid with Railway Protection Force at Badarpur junction, just 32 km away from Silchar, perhaps their last destination. Within a few hours of boarding the Agartala-Silchar passenger train, they fell into the net of security forces. They were made to alight at Badarpur and subjected to interrogation by BSF. The teenagers confessed they were in love and had eloped.

Parents of both the boy and girl were informed. They rushed from Dholai and after legal paper works, the girl (15) was handed over to her mother and the youth (18) to his father. It was a case of love labour lost, no doubt, but BSF was happy that they could restore the youths to their parents, of course, with the help of RPF. Three others were also detained and made to alight from the train to camouflage their real identity. Significantly, BSF has raised an exclusive battalion to deal with trafficking of women and other illegal activities.
