BAKSA: Pramod Boro, the chief of BTC (Bodoland Territorial Council) has welcomed the move of the State government to upgrade Tamulpur as a district. The Bill proposing Tamulpur as the fifth district of BTR (Bodoland Territorial Council) was placed in the Budget session of the State assembly by Finance Minister Ajanta Neog on Friday.

Meanwhile after returning to Tamulpur — his home constituency — from Dispur, the jubilant leader thanked State Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Addressing the media here, Boro said that the decision of the State Cabinet will definitely ensure the all-round development of Tamulpur. Mentionably before both the BTC and Assembly polls, Himanta Biswa Sarma had provided his commitment to the masses to upgrade Tamulpur as a district after the polls.

Pramod Boro further said with this development, Tamulpur will become one of the most vibrant and attractive districts of Assam.

It is noteworthy that welcoming the move of the State government, jubilant scenes were seen on the streets of Tamulpur with citizens lighting lamps and bursting crackers.
