Kokrajhar: At a time when people are expressing anguish over the pathetic attitude of the BTC administration towards sending recommendations to introduce Bodo medium up to Class XII, the deputy chief of BTC, Kampa Borgoyary on Wednesday showed his support to alter Bodo medium to English after Class VIII.
Borgoyary in an interview on the sidelines of the one-day national seminar held at Government College of Teachers’ Education, Kokrajhar on Wednesday, said there had been a discussion on the New Education Policy of India in BTC where all nationalist organizations were invited. He said they discussed the shortcomings of vernacular medium in the competitive examinations as well as its feasibility in the present day context in the world. Borgoyary said the time had come to think about the necessity of English medium education to appear in the competitive examinations. He said the Assamese intellectuals had also been laying stress on the necessity of English medium after Class VIII and thus the Bodos should also follow the same for the competitive examinations. The deputy chief alleged the UN Academy director of misleading people. He claimed that he just wanted to hold a seminar in this regard for larger discussion so that there would be no loopholes.
