BAKSA: With rise in the rate of COVID positive cases, the Health department and Tamulpur subdivision administration had declared a 'Containment Zone' at Tarungaon in Kawli under Tamulpur Subdivision in Baksa district.
The village witnessed a surge in COVID-19 cases due to mass transmission of the infection from a wedding ceremony that had taken place there. More than 100 people were in the village tested COVID-19 positive.
The people inside the 'Containment Zone' are suffering a food crisis. Hence, BTC Executive Member Dharmanarayan Das distributed food grains for the members of hundreds of families.
He also urged the people to follow the COVID-19 norms like maintenance of social distancing and mandatory wearing of face masks.
At present the number of COVID-19 cases in the village has come down , but the situation is far from normal.
Among the dignitaries present on the occasion were EM Das along with the Chairman of No 2 Pub Kumarikata VCDC Shankar Das, Chairman of No 3 Pub Kumarikata VCDC Dipankar Bhattacharya, local village headman Ranjit Dey, BJP leader Ram Bastola, BJP leader Gajen Das.
