Kokrajhar: Assam Congress leader Durga Das Boro said that the BJP must be scheming and has a plot for having a two-phase election for just 40 seats. Reacting to the announcement of polls date for Bodoland Territorial Council elections, Boro said that the elections could have been held on a single day instead of spreading it in two phases.

He welcomed and thanked the State Election Commission for finally announcing the election dates.

"We welcome the announcement of dates though it has come after nine long months," Boro said.

Talking about the Grand Alliance, Boro said that Congress, AIUDF, the Left parties, and few other regional parties had decided almost nine months back that they would contest BTC elections together and they are confident that the people of Bodoland Territorial Region would decide intelligently about who to vote for. "By now people are aware of the ploys and tactics of BJP," Boro said.

The Congress leader also sought protection for the candidates, voters, and the public in general during the elections and hoped that the administration would ensure a peaceful election where everyone would be able to exercise their democratic rights.
