BTC Polls: UPPL wins 6 seats in Udalguri district

The 2020 Bodoland Territorial Council election was held on Monday, December 7 and on Thursday, December 10 in 2020 to elect the 4th council of the Bodoland Territorial Council.

KALAIGAON: The 2020 Bodoland Territorial Council election was held on Monday, December 7 and on Thursday, December 10 in 2020 to elect the 4th council of the Bodoland Territorial Council. All 40 seats in the legislative assembly were set up for election in BTC. In Udalguri district United People Party Liberal (UPPL) won the 5 out of 10 seats and the BJP got 4 seats. However, the Bodoland Peoples' Front (BPF), which was ruling party of BTC could able to win only a single seat in Udalguri.

The UPPL captured Bhergaon, Khalingduar, Rowta, Bhairakunda and Harishinga in Udalguri while BJP won from Mwdaibari, Pachnai Serfang Khairabari and NonaiSerfang constituency respectively. The ruling BPF won from Dhasiriwhileit lost 8 seats in contrast to last election in which they won 9 seats in 2015. Moreover, former speaker of BTC, TridipDaimary has lost to UPPL candidate and former EMs of BTC like Jagadish Sarkar, Banjar Daimary and Lwmchrau Daimary also lost their seat.
