BTCLA session ends; house to take action against MCLA for 'derogatory' comments

The two-day autumn session of the Bodoland Territorial Council Legislative Assembly (BTCLA) ended on Thursday with a remarkable note of mission and vision of the present government given by the Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro.

KOKRAJHAR: The two-day autumn session of the Bodoland Territorial Council Legislative Assembly (BTCLA) ended on Thursday with a remarkable note of mission and vision of the present government given by the Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro. All five bills tabled on the first day were passed unanimously for the Governor's assent.

Meanwhile, the ruling United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) members of assembly brought a motion against Bodoland People's Front (BPF) MCLA Moon Moon Brahma of Porbhotjhora constituency for her alleged derogatory comments against BTC deputy chief Gobinda Chandra Basumayary and the council administration on social media during the ongoing session. The Speaker announced that action would be taken against her for violating conduct as per rule.

On the first day of the season, MCLA Brahma insulted the house, the Speaker and the CEM and disrespected the house of people's representatives. The Speaker strongly warned her not to repeat such action in the future but she began to insult the representatives of the ruling party on social media, prompting the house to bring motion against her.

In today's session, various schemes, planning and implementation of education, forest, health, water resources, irrigation was discussed at length. Talking to media persons, CEM Pramod Boro said the council administration had taken up measures to bring peace and equal development among all sections of society. He said the present government had been working against gun culture to establish a violence-free society where every people would be able to live without any fear in mind. He called upon the opposition members to join hands in bringing peaceful atmosphere to bring effective development.

Meanwhile, the leader of opposition, Derhasat Basumatary said they were not fully happy with the discussion on business of the session. Basumatary alleged that as many as 92 tenders of various schemes were sanctioned on a single day under the same development block, which was a clear indication of irregularities.
