KOKRAJHAR: The newly-constructed 30-bedded model hospital, including residential quarters of doctors and staff, at Karigaon in Kokrajhar district was inaugurated by the chief of BTR, Pramod Boro on Monday in presence of EM of Health and Family Welfare, Arup Kr. Dey, Director of Health Services and District Programme Manager, NHM.
Built under NHM on turn-key basis at the project cost of Rs 6.03 crore, the foundation stone of the model hospital was laid by the then chief of BTC, Hagrama Mohilary in 2018.
In his speech, BTR chief Pramod Boro said that the entire area lacked healthcare facility but after inauguration of the 30-bedded model hospital, the people would not have to go to Kokrajhar and other places for medical treatment as the government would ensure to provide doctors and para medical staff to serve the people. He also said that his government would give priority to the healthcare sector.
On the high child mortality rate in Kokrajhar district, Boro said that the reason for the high rate of child mortality was early marriage and lack of awareness in the district.
