UDALGURI: The newly-formed BTR Gorkha Samaj has extended its organizational activities to the village level. In a meeting presided over by Hari Sarma, a committee comprising the villages Pub Bandarguri, Pashchim Bandarguri, Pub Nepalpara, Paschim Nepalpara, Majuli, Badagaon and Simaluguri was formed on Monday. The committee is headed by Ranoj Adhikari as president, Mina Poudel, and Gopal Thapa as vice-presidents and Tilak Dahal as general secretary.

Dipak Nirola, the general secretary of BTR Gorkha Samaj, while addressing the people assembled at that meeting, said that after the formation of village units the organization would open a helpline for the distressed people. He also urged the Gorkha community people to keep genuine documents to include their names in the NRC list. Gopi Chetry, the general secretary of Udalguri district committee of BTR Gorkha Samaj, explained the purpose of the meeting held at Bandarguri. The meeting also discussed the important issues of the villagers and asked them to unite to get justice from the government.
