Burmese supari seized, 7 arrested by Dholai police

SILCHAR: Despite strict police action, the Burmese supari syndicate did not seem to restrict itself as huge quantity of smuggled betel nuts from Myanmar via Mizoram was confiscated on Monday night. Based on secret information, Dholai police intercepted three vehicles coming from Mizoram and recovered 50 bags containing Burmese supari weighing more than 3000 kgs. Police had arrested altogether 7 persons travelling in these three vehicles. Persons arrested were identified as Lalman Sawma, Kishan Khasia, Nur Islam Laskar, Ezaz Ahmed Mazumder, Khukan Uddin Mazumder, Saidul Haque Mazumdar and Motibur Laskar.
