DHUBRI: A businessman was shot dead by unidentified miscreants in Bilasipara town of the Dhubri district on Wednesday night. Businessman and goods supplier, Baser Ali, aged around 40, was sleeping in his house at Rokakhata in ward no 8 of Bilasipara town when miscreants entered his rented house by breaking the door and shot Baser from point-blank distance on his head and left the scene, a family member said.
Landlord of Baser Ali and neighbours woke up hearing the heart-wrenching cries of the family members and found Baser Ali lying in a pool of blood. Police rushed to the spot and recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem.
Dhubri Superintendent of Police, Aparna Natarajan also visited the house of Baser Ali on Thursday morning. A source close to the family of Baser Ali informed that the miscreants might be sent by someone with whom Baser Ali had financial dispute. Meanwhile, police have picked up eight suspects and they are being interrogated in Bilasipara Police Station.
