Cachar College principal Dr. Siddharth Sankar Nath suspended

Dr. Siddharth Sankar Nath, the much controversial principal of Cachar College had been put under suspension by the Director of Higher Education.

SILCHAR: Dr. Siddharth Sankar Nath, the much controversial principal of Cachar College had been put under suspension by the Director of Higher Education. On Wednesday evening, Dharmakanta Mili, the DHE in an order stated that after departmental proceedings decision of suspending Dr. Nath had been taken on November 1 by the government. During the suspension period, Principal Nath would get subsistance allowance as per the rule. However he would not be allowed to move out of headquarter without the approval of the competent authority, the order further added.

Dr Siddharth Sankar Nath was in news for various unpleasant incidents in recent times. He was detained by Silchar police following a complaint by the Deputy Commissioner alleging that the Principal violated government instructions in holding the examination for III and IV grade posts.

On the other hand, teachers of Cachar College started agitation demanding the removal of Dr Nath as they alleged that a group of students was instigated by the Principal to misbehave with the teachers. They had earlier placed a 'chargesheet' to the DHE against the Principal.
