Cachar DC Keerthi Jalli climbs Bhuban Hills, reviews arrangements for Shivratri

SILCHAR: The festival of Maha Shiva Ratri is celebrated with great fervour across Cachar district. Devotees from all round the district and across Barak Valley throng the holy Bhuban Hills to offer prayers to Lord Shiva and seek blessings.

In view of the ensuing festival and to take stock of the preparations, Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, Keerthi Jalli visited the Bhuban Hills on Saturday. To make the festival incident and crime free, Cachar district administration had taken stringent measures this time. A committee has been formed to monitor the proceedings of the festival at the Bhuvan Hills and special steps are being taken to check consumption of alcohol during the festival.

The Deputy Commissioner climbed the hill upto the holy Shiva temple and offered prayers as well. During her visit she was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Dipak Jidung. She interacted with the locals and also with the members of the temple committee and inquired about the implementation of the measures. The Deputy Commissioner wished everyone for the upcoming Shivratri and assured the temple committee for adequate police protection on festival day.

Sharing her reaction, Cachar DC Keerthi Jalli said, "We have instructed all the departments to line up facilities for the comfort of the devotees on the festival day. District transport office will ensure sufficient public transport for the devotees who want to come to the hill. Public is requested to maintain decorum and follow the instructions." "Two-three lakhs of people are expected to turn up for the festival. Public is requested to maintain decorum and follow instructions. No alcohol will be allowed up the hill at any cost. Those who have gotten darshan are requested to leave at the earliest and prevent loitering and exploring to make space for other devotees," she further said. The Deputy Commissioner also asked all to avoid plastic material as far as possible.

Bhuvan Mela is organized every year in Cachar district. Bhuvan Pahar is situated in the Cachar district of Assam. This is famous for the Shiva temple situated at the top of this hill, where lakhs of people from various parts of the State visit during Maha Shivratri to worship Lord Shiva. This hill is situated almost 50 km away from the town Silchar of Assam. This is a very significant pilgrimage place of Assam.

During his maiden visit to Bhuban hill, in a public meeting organized at Bhuban hill, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that Rs 10 crore under untied fund will be allocated for the infrastructural development of Bhuban hill and according to his announcement, in the first phase, Rs 50 lakh has already been released for infrastructural development of this pilgrimage place.
