SILCHAR: The process of upgrading Silchar Municipal Board to a corporation got started with the publication of the draft map for the proposed delineated area for the corporation. Deputy Commissioner of Cachar Keerthi Jalli on Tuesday published the proposed map for public views, comments or suggestions. She requested the interested persons to forward their opinion within 15 days. The suggestions could be submitted in the office of the Deputy Commissioner or can mail it to dc-cachar@nic.in.
The State government had recently declared that Silchar would be upgraded to a corporation. Deputy Commissioner had been asked by the government to finalize the map of the proposed corporation taking the people of the district into confidence. DC Jalli had already held a couple of meeting with concerned people for drafting the proposed map of the corporation. The government was planning to hold the election for the civic body of Silchar within the next two months.
