Cachar DC Rohan Kumar Jha inaugurates RBSK under NHM in Silchar

SILCHAR: National Health Mission's one of the philanthropic projects Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Kariyakram (RBSK) started in Silchar here on Tuesday.

Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, Rohan Kumar Jha officially announced it by lighting a lamp on the occasion.

A programme was organized to bring it to the all-education residential boys' school in Silchar Normal School premises. Gracing the occasion as the chief guest, Deputy Commissioner Rohan Kumar Jha said that although the agenda of RBSK was going on in 8 health blocks of Cachar, Silchar town was out of its scope. As a result, the students of schools and Anganwadis were deprived of the profit of this program. For this reason, a decision was taken in the meeting of the District Health Society to start it in the city and it was inaugurated as a part of it.

DC Jha also directed the officials of education and Anganwadi institutions of Silchar to co-operate with the concerned team of the health department.

Around 190 Anganwadi centers and 70 schools of Silchar Rural and Urban Integrated Child Development Center will be covered under this programme.

Earlier, in the presence of Sarva Shiksha Mission Coordinator and assistant commissioner Himashree Deka, Health Division Branch Officer and Executive Magistrate Kishan Charai, Dr. Sadhankumar Roy, paediatrician of Silchar Civil Hospital, Rahul Ghosh, District project officer of NHM, Joint Director of Health , Cachar, Dr Ashutosh Barman spoke about the schedule.

Sarba Shiksha District Program Officer Dr Vidyut Dev Chowdhury, Papdi Bhattacharya, Panchatpa Chowdhury and others also gave relevant speeches. DPO of Sarva Shiksha, Ranaranjan Nath, Kripanu Roy, School Superintendent Biswajit Nath and others were present among others.

RBSK has the facility to provide free diagnosis and treatment of about 49 diseases from birth to 18 years of age in the state and outside the state under the scheme.

The diseases include congenital heart disease (CHD), cleft lip and palate surgery, club feet, malnutrition, hearing, cochlear implants and eye disease, hearing aids, spectacles, stated a press release.
