SILCHAR: Reassessing the security scenario in Cachar district and to stop illegal export of commodities and cattle to and infiltration from Bangladesh through the border, District Magistrate Keerthi Jhalli clamped 144 CrPc along Indo-Bangladesh border of Cachar. The order in question issued today directs no person will be allowed to move between sunset and sunrise within a belt of 1 km of the international border and no person will be allowed to move on river Surma and on its high banks within the territory in actual control of India in the district of Cachar. In addition to that, no person will be allowed to ply boat in Surma for the purpose of fishing.
The order further directs permission for fishing will be given to local people by the circle officer of Katigorah for their personal consumption after obtaining permission from the lessee as per terms and conditions and the copy of such permission should be endorsed to the District Magistrate Cachar and the Commandant 131 BSF Dholcherra.
It has also been informed that no person will be allowed to carry any quantities of rice, sugar, wheat, edible oil, kerosene and salt by any vehicle, thela, rickshaw or by other means between sunset and sunrise within 5 km belt inside the district boundary of Cachar provided that permit may be issued in this regard by the circle officer who is also authorised to allow relaxation, if any, for specific purpose, time and place after verification from the local supply officials with a copy to the District Magistrate and the Commandant 131 BSF. This directive effective from today shall remain in force until further order.
