Dibrugarh: The Deepsikha Cancer Foundation, Mumbai, in collaboration with Assam Branch Indian Tea Association (ABITA) Zone 1 Office, Dibrugarh Circle and Shruti Silpi Samaj, Dibrugarh set up a free cancer screening and awareness camp at Jokai Kolioni on Saturday. The camp was organized at Jokai Model Hospital with the support of Jokai Gaon Panchyat. The camp was addressed by internationally renowned cancer specialist Dr. Tapan Kumar Saikia, Dr. Bithi Saikia, TATA Hospital (Mumbai), and specialist doctors of Deepsikha Cancer Foundation, Mumbai. More than 400 people of upper Assam districts like Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Sivsagar, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, and Jorhat did their cancer screening and benefited from the health check-up camp. The camp aimed to assess the general health status of the community and remove fear from the minds of the people by creating awareness about the common cancers and the importance of early detection by regular health check-up. The president of Jokai Gaon Panchayat, ward members and youth of Jokai provided support in organizing the camp smoothly.
