Candlelight rally by All Bodo Women’s Welfare Federation against Manipur incident

KOKRAJHAR: The All Bodo Women’s Welfare Federation (ABWWF) expressed their anger over the Manipur incident and called upon both Kuki and Meitei communities to exercise restrain for the greater interest of peace and harmony in the valley. The ABWWF also lit candles at Kokrajhar overbridge on Wednesday for peace and normalcy.

Talking to reporters, the president of ABWWF, Dipali Narzary said the Manipur incident where three women were paraded naked in open place was vehemently condemnable in the civilized world. She said the incident was extremely unfortunate where modesty of women was grossly insulted. The Government of India and Government of Manipur must initiate stringent punishment against the perpetrators who were involved and bring back total normalcy and peace in the valley, she said, adding that no culprit should be allowed to escape from punishment. The programme was also taken part by former president of ABWWF, Kanan Basumatary and other senior members of the Federation.
