A CORRESPONDENT
LAKHIMPUR: A capacity-building programme for the cadres on Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WaSH) was organized by Indo Global Social Service Society (IGSSS) at Bhebeli High School under Dhemaji district.
The objective of the programme is to create a team as WaSH ambassadors who are responsible for spreading awareness on water, sanitation and hygiene to motivate the students and community people to follow hygiene practices that help to reduce water born, communicable and non-communicable diseases and to educate students about scientific analysis on proper hygiene practices.
WaSH consultant Jepuleen Dutta took part in the programme as resource person while teacher of the school, Purna Das was present as guest of honour. Students from 10 villages and community people of the nearby areas attended the programme as trainees.
IGSSS Dhemaji district project officer Rajen Saikia highlighted the key points of the project which has been implemented with the support of Secoures Catholique to empower flood-affected community for sustainable livelihood and development. A total of 15 villages under the Bordoloni Development Block in Dhemaji district have been covered under the project.
