Capacity development programme on Early Childhood Care and Education held

BISWANATH CHARIALI: A three day-long capacity development programme on Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), based on National Education Policy 2020, concluded successfully at District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Sonitpur on Friday. Twenty five Anganwadi Supervisors of Biswanath, Sootea, Baghmara and Sakomotha ICDS blocks and thirty five Pre-primary Teachers of Biswanath Education Block actively participated in the programme which was conducted from November 16 to November 18. The programme which was coordinated by Dr Raj Kiran Doley, Lecturer (DIET) and jointly coordinated by Manisha Baishya, Lecturer (DIET) intended to deal with different pedagogical approaches, assessment techniques and issues and challenges in the early childhood stage.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by Additional District Commissioner-cum-District Mission Coordinator, SSA, Dhrubajyoti Das, the Principal, DIET, Samirjyoti Borah, Block Elementary Education Officer Moromi Mahato, District Programme Officer (TT) Rabin Hazarika and others. While addressing the gathering, Dr Raj Kiran Doley spoke about the objectives of the training programme and its significance in the present-day scenario. Dhrubajyoti Das, ADC-cum-DMC, in his speech mentioned about the importance of the foundational stage in making a child ready for the future life and the role of pre-school teachers in this regard while Moromi Mahato, BEEO emphasized on allowing children to learn at their pace by providing need based individualized care and educational support.

The inaugural ceremony was conducted by Anjan Borah, CRCC, Biswanath. The CDPO of Sootea ICDS Block Joy Doley encouraged the participants by his valuable address. The three-day programme, which was organized by the internal annual fund of DIET, Sonitpur through its own initiative, was full of events and activities that were joyfully carried out by the participants with support from the resource persons. Some other significant areas that were covered during the programme were foundational literacy and numeracy, art and sports integrated pedagogy, ECCE and its significance, etc. Kabita Hazarika, Monisha Hazarika, Mayuri Sarma, Pranjal Chetia, Nilakshi Phukan, Dimpi Khanikar and Atul Rownier acted as resource persons in addition to Dr Raj Kiran Doley and Manisha Baishya. During the valediction, many positive feedbacks were received from the participants. Thus, the 3-day programme ended with certificate distribution.
