Capital punishment demanded for AASU leader's killers

Along with the rest of the State, the people and organizations of Lakhimpur district vehemently condemned the heinous killing of AASU (All Assam Students’ Union) leader Animesh Bhuyan who lost his life as a result of mob attack that took place on Monday in Jorhat.

LAKHIMPUR: Along with the rest of the State, the people and organizations of Lakhimpur district vehemently condemned the heinous killing of AASU (All Assam Students' Union) leader Animesh Bhuyan who lost his life as a result of mob attack that took place on Monday in Jorhat. Most of the people of the district have taken to the social media platforms to condemn the mob lynching and to demand capital punishment of the culprits involved. Notably, Animesh Bhuyan served as the Education Secretary of the Brahmaputra Regional Committee under AASU in Golaghat district."

The Lakhimpur district unit of AASU, and North Lakhimpur regional unit of the organization have demanded for the trial of the culprits in the fast-track court and their exemplary punishment.

The activists of the North Lakhimpur unit of AASU, led by president Bitopan Bhuyan, general secretary Asim Ranjan Bhuyan organized a shradhanjali programme to pay tribute to the demised leader. They lit earthen lamps at the Swahid Bedi campus of North Lakhimpur town praying for the departed soul. They also prayed for the immediate recovery of the other two persons, one of whom is a journalist.
