Carcass of rhino recovered at Roumari anti poaching camp area of ONPTR

MANGALDAI: The staff of Orang National Park and Tiger Reserve (ONPTR) at about 11 am on Sunday, while undertaking patrolling duty, recovered the carcass of a young rhino aged approx 2 to 2.5 years old at Roumari anti poaching camp area of ONPTR.

The head portion attached with erupting horn was found approximately 50 metres away from the carcass. The carcass was found to be in a decomposed state with partially eaten up by the predators. The Park authority has made arrangements for the post mortem examination to be performed by Veterinary Officer of Dhekiajuli Veterinary Dispensary, Dr. Amar Jyoti Boro. The cause of death is suspected to be attack by a tiger.
