Cattle-laden truck seized; 2 held by Sonitpur Police

TEZPUR: Sonitpur Police foiled another smuggling attempt and rescued 34 cattle from a truck bearing registration number AS 01GC 5942 coming from Balipara side laden with 36 cattle. It was intercepted at NH 15 near Ghoramari area under Salonibari OP of Tezpur Sadar Police station in Sonitpur district. The operation team was lead by SI Simanta Pathak, IC Salonibari OP under Tezpur PS, During the search, 36 stolen cattles were recovered and two persons were apprehended. They have been identified as Samir Ali resident of Kalgasia in Barpeta district and Badeng Nangri from Barapani in Meghalaya, said Simanta Pathak IC, Salonibari OP. The bullocks were sent to Trinayan Gosala Chariduar for safety and shelter. Out of 34 bullocks one was found dead, Simanta added.
