Cattle-laden Truck Seized in Gossaigaon

Gossaigaon: In continuation of strict legal action against cattle smuggling and other illegal activities, Kokrajhar Police, based on reliable information, apprehended on Thursday a cattle-laden truck(AS01GC/3837) coming from West Bengal. The truck was seized in Gossaigaon sub-division of Kokrajhar district. The truck with 16 cows was about to be smuggled to Bangladesh via Meghalaya Assam border. Along with the truck, one innova car(AS01AK/7363) with Arun Lyngdoh and Munna Saikia alias Ikram Hussain, self styled president and general secretary of All India Livestock Traders and Transporter Association, have been taken in custody as they were escorting the vehicle from West Bengal. One alto car (Wb70l/8539) was also apprehended. Altogether 10 persons from West Bengal, Assam and other places were apprehended in connection with the crime. A case has been registered at Gossaigaon PS and further enquiry is on. Sources also disclosed that the person Munna Saikia was also arrested in December 2018 at Fasidewa PS under Darjeeling District in connection with smuggling of cattle from Bihar to West Bengal.
