TANGLA: The Tangla Police in Udalguri district recovered a Toyota Innova vehicle and rescued a cow that was being transported through the vehicle at Tangla on Saturday night.
According to reports, a team of Tangla Police acted after receiving information that the vehicle was parked near an oil depot and four persons were suspiciously loitering around the area ."We suspect that they were cow lifters as the bovine's legs were tied and was it pushed into the car while second and third row seats were removed," said Tangla Police Station officer-in-charge Someswar Konwar. "A police team rushed to the spot after receiving the information but the cattle lifters fled the spot," Konwar added.
Tangla Police also recovered an iron wire cutter from the vehicle and have impounded the Toyota Innova vehicle bearing registration number AS23U5411. They are looking after the rescued cow. "We are working on a couple of clues and are confident of tracking them down," he added.
