Celebration committee constituted in North Lakhimpur

A public meeting for the celebration of golden jubilee of Lakhimpur Commerce College was held on Sunday in North Lakhimpur.

LAKHIMPUR: A public meeting for the celebration of golden jubilee of Lakhimpur Commerce College was held on Sunday in North Lakhimpur. The meeting was chaired by Dr Lohit Hazarika, Principal of the college. The objective of the meeting was explained by Dr. Harini Patowary Das, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Lakhimpur Commerce College. In the beginning of the meeting the half-yearly newsletter of the college, LCom News was released by Dr. Muhidhar Pujari, president of the governing body of the college.

Eminent academician and retired Principal of Lakhimpur Girls College, Dr. Mukunda Rajbangshi addressed the meeting with various suggestions and recommendations to celebrate the golden Jubilee of the college in a grand manner. The meeting was also addressed by founder Principal of Lakhimpur Commerce College Dr Hemanta Kumar Baruwa, retired professors from the college Naren Sarma, Jiten Sarma, Rameswar Tapariya, Mahendra Hazarika. Retired Vice-Principal of North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous) Dr Amiya Rajbangshi, retired Principal of Dhemaji College Dr Pushpa Nath Bora, eminent alumni of the college Jiten Bordoloi, retired professor of Govt. College, Halflong, company secretary Nanda Kishore Rathi, chartered accountant Ram Kumar Saraf, prominent businessman Munin Saikia and retired office superintendent of Lakhimpur Commerce College Indra Mani Rajkumar, retired teachers Padma Sarma Baruah, Perafulla Sarma, advocate Madhav Gogoi and several others also addressed the meeting with various suggestions on golden jubilee.

The meeting formed a Golden Jubilee Celebration Committee with Dr. Mukunda Rajbvangshi as President, Principal Dr Lohit Hazarika as Secretary, alumni Munin Saikia as Working President and alumni Ramesh Bajaj as treasurer. The meting also announced that further committees would be formed on later meetings. The meeting was anchored by Kuldeep Narayan Dutta, Assistant Professor of Political Science of the college.
