Central Institute of Technology boys' hostels sealed in Kokrajhar

Two buildings -- Quarter No C-1 and Quarter No T-2 (PG Boys' Hostels) of Central Institute of Technology (CIT), Kokrajhar have been sealed as three persons have tested COVID-19 positive.

KOKRAJHAR: Two buildings -- Quarter No C-1 and Quarter No T-2 (PG Boys' Hostels) of Central Institute of Technology (CIT), Kokrajhar have been sealed as three persons have tested COVID-19 positive. The hostels have been declared a containment zone by the district administration.

Earlier, All the diploma and degree students were asked to vacate their campus but after the detection of COVID-19 cases in the campus, the Masters and PhD scholars also have left the campus. Joshua Basumatary, teaching staff of CIT said that the two buildings — No C-1 and Quarter No T-2 (PG Boys' Hostel) were sealed as three persons have tested COVID-19 positive. He said that all the COVID positive students were returnees of the campus from West Bengal.

Basumatary said that as a precaution and to keep updating the cases of COVID-19 on the campus, the CIT authority has formed CIT COVID Respond Team headed by Dean, Student Affairs and NSS Programme Coordinator. CIT Health Department too has been asked to be prepared to deal with an emergency if COVID-19 cases increase on the campus, he added.

The CIT security personnel are keeping strict vigilance of the movement in and out of the campus, he said adding that the Registrar on behalf of the CIT was taking all efforts and is working hard to deal with the ongoing pandemic.

He asserted that regular sanitation of campus has been ordered, the sanitizing tunnel has been put up in the gate, hand sanitizer machines have been installed in every entry point of the administrative building. He said that classes are being held in online mode. The non-teaching staff has been divided into two groups who come to the office on alternate days and the teaching staff takes online classes, he added.
