Certificates and financial assistance distributed to Bihu artistes

MANGALDAI: Darrang district administration on Friday offered the certificates and one time financial assistance of Rs 25,000 to each of 201 young damsels of Darrang district who took part in the mega Rongali Bihu event organized by the Assam government in a successful bid to create a record in Guineas Book of World Record. In addition to it, equal amount of financial assistances was also offered to eight other artistes kept in reserve.

Synchronizing with the statewide function of financial assistance distribution, Darrang district administration on Friday organized a well attended function at the district library auditorium in presence of Minister of State for Labour and Employment and Welfare of Tea Tribes, Sanjoy Kishan as the chief guest. In the function, the distribution process of the certificates and digital transfer of financial assistance to the individual bank accounts of the artistes ceremonially took place in presence of Mangaldai Parliamentarian Dilip Saikia, Sipajhar legislator Dr. Paramananda Rajbongshi, former legislator Gurujyoti Das and others.

Earlier, Darrang Deputy Commissioner Munindra Nath Ngatey accorded a hearty welcome to the guests and the audience in his welcome speech while Additional Deputy Commissioner Jonti Deka presented a brief power point presentation on the preparation of the Bihu dance in the district organized by the district administration for successful participation of the artistes in the historic mega event in Guwahati in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A large number of dilettantes including the ‘Bihuwatis’ and the ‘Bihuwas’ attended the function moderated by radio artiste Pranjal Kr Sarma.

HAFLONG: Nandita Gorlosa, Assam Minister for Power, Sports & Youth Welfare etc ceremonially distributed appreciation certificates to the performers of the Bihu event of Dima Hasao district at District Library Auditorium hall Haflong on Friday. This distribution was done in appreciation to the performers of the Bihu event who participated in the historic event held at Sarusajai stadium at Guwahati. The event took place on April 13 with an aim to set a Guinness World Record for the largest Bihu performance in a single venue, where a total of 50 bihu dancers from Dima Hasao district also took part along with the rest of the districts of Assam and made this event a success.

Speaking on the occasion Nandita Gorlosa congratulated all the participants of all districts for their huge contribution in making this Bihu event a success. She was overwhelmed with the great work and contribution by the event organisers. She also spoke about how important it is to be aware regarding different dance forms rather than confined to one only. The programme began with a warm welcome speech which was delivered by Deputy Commissioner Simanta Kumar Das, who expressed his satisfaction on being able to send the participants from Dima Hasao and be a part of the record breaking event. Bihu performance was also presented as the part of the programme.

LAKHIMPUR: Certificates and remuneration were distributed to those Bihuwas and Bihuwotis who participated from Lakhimpur district in the Guinness World Records team for the record-breaking feat of ‘largest Bihu dance and largest dhol drum ensemble’.

The mega-event was organized at the Sarusajai Stadium on April 13 with the participation of 11,304 Bihuwotis and 2,548 Dhulias creating a historic moment for the State. On April 14, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma received the certificate from the authority of the Guinness Book of World Records for the grand achievement in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The mega-event was aimed at setting a new Guinness World Record for the largest Bihu dance performance at a single venue, and Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma-led Government of Assam had left no stone unturned to make the Rongali Bihu of the current year a grand occasion with this spectacular initiative. A total of 699 Bihuwotis took part in the event from Lakhimpur district.

To distribute the certificates and the remuneration concerned to those performers, a ceremonial programme was organized at the auditorium of North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous) on Friday. Agriculture Minister-cum-Guardian Minister of Lakhimpur district, Atul Borah attended the programme as chief guest who gave away the certificates to the Bihuwotis. While delivering his lecture, the minister appreciated and thanked the performers of the district for successfully participating in the event to realize ‘a noble cause’. He congratulated them for being a part of a record holding event and for establishing Assam’s vibrant culture by showcasing their talents on a global stage.

Deputy Commissioner Sumit Sattawan delivered welcome address in the programme which was anchored by Junuma Koch. In his lecture, the Deputy Commissioner eulogized the Government of Assam’s initiative and appreciated the Bihu performers for their successful performance in the mega-event. In addition to the certificates, remuneration amounting to Rs. 25,000 was given to each of the 699 Bihu performers of the district, who hailed from Lakhimpur, Nowboicha, Bihpuria and Dhakuakhana LACs, through Direct Bank Transfer (DBT). The Government of Assam has already released a fund of Rs. 1,74,75,000 for the Bihu performers.
