SIVASAGAR: Addressing a press conference at the BJP office in Sivasagar, BJP's district in-charge Roopam Goswami announced the names of chairmen and vice chairmen of five municipal boards of Sivasagar district on Monday. The winning candidate of ward No. 11, Mrinalini Konwar of the BJP has been selected as the chairperson, while Sanjib Bora of ward No. 9 has been named the vice chairman of the Sivasagar Municipal Board.
Mrinalini Konwar was elected as a candidate of the Congress party in the last municipal board election. She later joined the BJP, while Sanjib Bora is a senior advocate and contested the municipal board election with the ticket of BJP's alliance AGP from Ward No. 9. In addition, the names of the chairmen and vice chairmen of Amguri, Demow, Simaluguri and Nazira municipal boards were also announced.
Accordingly, the BJP selected Anamika Neog (BJP) as the chairperson and Sangeeta Das (AGP) as the vice-chairperson of Amguri Municipal Board. Pallabita Baruah Gogoi and Ajit Borgohain of BJP were selected as chairperson and vice-chairman of Demow Municipal Board respectively. Similarly, two other elected candidates of BJP, Kabita Mech and Khirod Sensowa were selected as the chairperson and vice-chairman of Simaluguri Municipal Board.
On the other hand, BJP's Bornali Chetia and AGP's Monasimuddin Ahmed have been given the responsibility to hold the charges of chairperson and vice-chairman of Nazira Municipal Board respectively.
