Cheques Rs 25,000 distributed to women beneficiaries in Haflong

HAFLONG: Executive Member, NC Hills Autonomous Council Namgrothang Hmar, ceremonially distributed cheques amounting to Rs 25,000 to 64 women beneficiaries in the District Library Auditorium Hall, Haflong, as the chief guest along with NCHAC MACs in presence of Deputy Commissioner Nazreen Ahmed on Monday.

This programme is under the Assam Micro-Finance Incentive and Relief Scheme (AMFIRS), for a loan waiver to give relief to women loan borrowers. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday introduced microfinance loan scheme to benefit around 24 lakh women across the State to fulfil promises made during the election.

During her welcome speech, Deputy Commissioner Nazreen Ahmed stated that this scheme is to encourage women entrepreneur borrowers who have been making regular payments to the banks. It is an incentive and relief scheme for them to continue maintaining good credit discipline.

Addressing the audience chief guest of the programme NCHAC EM Namgrothang Hmar said, "As promised during the last assembly poll in the state, Micro-Finance loan borrowers were committed for relief and the government fulfilled their commitment within the short spent of six months.

Others present during the programme were NCHAC MACs Noah Daime, Liton Chakraborty, Issory Prasad Joishi, Assistant Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioners, DIPRO and media persons.
