SIVASAGAR: With the Assam Assembly bye-polls slated to be held on October 30, 2021, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday appealed to the voters of Thowra constituency to ensure a big win for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Sushanta Borgohain for the well-being and all-round development of the constituency.
The 107 Thowra LAC seat fell vacant after Congress MLA Sushanta Borgohain quit the party and joined the saffron party in August last. Speaking during the campaigning, Sarma said, "The progress of the constituency is inevitable as the BJP candidate Sushanta Borgohain and former MLA Kushal Duwari have been working tirelessly."
Citing reference to various schemes launched by his government, Sarma said, "Arunodoi scheme has been providing financial assistance to at least 42 lakh households in the State. The government is providing benefits to as many as 15,000 families under the Arunodoi scheme in Thowra constituency and is going to increase the number of beneficiary families."
"At least 6,000 more families will be covered under Arunodoi scheme within the next three months in Thowra constituency," the Chief Minister added.
