Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurates 15.447 KM NH 37 re-alignment Dibrugarh Bypass

Dibrugarh: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday inaugurated the 15.447 KM NH 37 Dibrugarh Bypass from Bogibeel Junction to Bakul at a program held at Japisajia in Dibrugarh today.

The construction of Dibrugarh Bypass/ Realignment of NH-37 from Bogibeel Junction at KM 581.700 to KM 597.147 on Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) basis of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has been implemented by National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited.

The project of 15.447 km length bypass is built at an estimated cost of Rs. 96.84 crore.

CM Sonowal as a part of the project also inaugurated a railway overbridge on the stipulated stretch.

Speaking on the occasion, Sonowal said that the present Narendra Modi-led Central Government after assuming power in 2014 took the initiative of bringing about revolutionary changes in the connectivity of the country especially in the Northeast through championing the cause of 'Transformation through Transportation'.

He said that the Central government realizing that a region no matter how prosperous it is cannot prosper without seamless connectivity.

Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways brought about policy changes under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and as a result of which Assam along with other Northeastern states have witnessed Rs. 3 lakh crore investment on-road sector.

CM Sonowal thanked the Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on behalf of 3.5 crore people of the state.

Contrary to 60 years of rule of the Congress, the BJP led Central government brought about unprecedented changes in the last six years, CM Sonowal said.

He also attributed the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS)at Changsari, Indian Agricultural Research Centre (IARS) at Gogamukh, Indian Institute of Design(IID) at Jorhat, Multi-modal Logistic Hub at Jogighopa to the goodwill and sincerity of the Central Government.

He also said that the people of Assam had to resort to agitation for a single bridge over the Brahmaputra.

However, now under the leadership of PM Modi, the Central Government has approved the construction of five new bridges over the river.

CM Sonowal also said that the amount of work done by the current state government in 4.5 years becomes clear if one performs a comparative analysis between the performance of the current BJP-led government and the previous Congress governments in the state.

He said, in the last 15 years, the Lok Nirman Department

has constructed more than 15 thousand kilometers of roads, besides converting more than one thousand wooden bridges into concrete bridges.

BJP government has also constructed roads using pavers blocks in all 850 tea gardens of the state. He said.

He stated that as against the rule of discrimination, neglect, and indifference, the BJP led State government has ushered in development based on peace and harmony, and as a result, the state has not witnessed any discord or disharmony in the state.

Stating that the construction of the Dibrugarh Bypass will help in the beautification, development of the historic Dibrugarh town, Sonowal thanked all functionaries associated with NHIDCL for completing the bypass. He at the same time asked NHIDCL to complete all ongoing projects of the state within the stipulated time frame.

Speaking on the occasion, Rameswar Teli, the Union Minister of State for Food Processing said, the synergy between the Central and State governments has resulted in an unprecedented development in communication and transportation of the state.

He thanked CM Sonowal for bringing about extraordinary changes in the socio-economic and cultural milieu of the tea garden dominated areas in the state.

NHIDCL, Executive Director gave a welcome address in the program which was also addressed by MLA Lahowal Rituporno Baruah.

The event was attended by Minister of State (i/c) Tea Tribe Welfare Sajay Kisan, MLAs Prasanta Phukan, Naren Sonowal, Bimal Bora, Chakradhar Gogoi, Chief Executive Member Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council Dipu Ranjan Makrary, Managing Director BPCL R. Hazarika, and a host of other dignitaries.
