Chief Secretary of Assam Jishnu Baruah reviewed the COVID-19 situation at Bongaigaon on Monday.

BONGAIGAON: Chief Secretary of Assam Jishnu Baruah reviewed the COVID-19 situation at Bongaigaon on Monday. He also took stock of the flood preparedness, progress of Jal Jeevan Mission, Social Welfare Schemes etc. in a meeting held at the conference hall of the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Bongaigaon in presence of Bongaigaon DC Dr MS Lakshmi Priya and Chirang DC Narendra Kumar Shah.

The Chief Secretary Jishnu Baruah at first took stock of the COVID-19 management at the railway station and bus stops. He also took stock of the health facilities in Bongaigaon and checked the availability of doctors, staff, status of COVID-19 at Tea Estate in Bongaigaon etc. The Chief Secretary asked the health officials to complete COVID-19 vaccination in Bongaigaon.

Chief Secretary Jishnu Baruah took stock of the implementation of flagship programs under Social Welfare Department like Poshan Abhiyan, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana etc. He also informed that a smart device will be provided to Anganwadi workers and Anganwadi centres will be electrified. Now packet food will be provided to children in Anganwadi centres. The Chief Secretary praised the activities of Social Welfare Department in Bongaigaon.

The progress of Jal Jeevan Mission under Public Health Engineering Department in Bongaigaon was also reviewed by the Chief Secretary. About 11,000 functional household tap connections have been completed in Bongaigaon within last three months.

The meeting was attended by dignitaries of Social Welfare Department, Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad, Bongaigaon, Additional Deputy Commissioners etc.
