BONGAIGAON: Demanding exclusion of non-Bodo villages from BTR and ST categorization of the Koch-Rajbanshi community, Chilaray Unnayan Manch (CUM) staged a three-hour long demonstration on Thursday in front of the DC office, Chirang.
Bikramjit Ray, central president of Chilaray Unnayan Manch, said that the Koch-Rajbanshi community had reached the extreme level of tolerance. "The villages where percentage of non-Bodo people is more than Bodo people should be excluded from BTR. ST categorization of Koch-Rajbanshi community should also be done. If our demands are not fulfilled immediately, we will vote out the BJP government in Assam in the upcoming assembly election in 2021," he said.
In this regard, they submitted a memorandum to ministers Himanta Biswa Sarma, Phani Bhusan Choudhury and Chandan Brahma through the Chirang Deputy Commissioner.
