Children’s Sports Festival kicks off in Doomdooma

The event was conducted by Himadri Bargohain, Barsha Barthakur, Bunu Malla, Pallabika Baruah, Jonmoni Das, Harshajyoti Kakati and Raktim Deka.

DOOMDOOMA: The State Child Protection Committee and Tinsukia District Child Protection Committee under the National Ministry of Women and Children organized a children’s sports festival for the children of Keshav Baheti Suryoday Children’s Home and Keshav Baheti Open Shelter on Tuesday. Inaugurating the sports festival at the grounds of Hapjan Middle English and Higher Secondary School, Makum, District Child Protection Committee Officer-in-Charge Bedanta Kalita said the sports festival would contribute immensely to the physical and mental development of children.

The inaugural ceremony was hosted by Suryoday Director Akhil Chandra Barua. Child Protection Officer Satya Narayan Baruah, Principal Surjit Bhattacharya, Sports Director Rameswar Mahatta and many others were the guests of honour. The event was conducted by Himadri Bargohain, Barsha Barthakur, Bunu Malla, Pallabika Baruah, Jonmoni Das, Harshajyoti Kakati and Raktim Deka. The children took part in 100m race, 200m race, kabaddi and football. Besides these, carrom, ludo, chess and badminton competitions will also be held. Today’s sports festival was also sponsored by GV Football Association.
