KOKRAJHAR: The Chirang district administration is all set to conduct the ensuing Combined Competitive (Preliminary) Examination, 2020 of the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) on September 12, 2021 at its two centres- UN Brahma Senior Secondary School and Kajalgaon High School. In this year, a total of 346 candidates will appear in the Combined Competitive (Preliminary) Examination in Chirang district.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of Chirang, on Thursday held a preparatory meeting in this regard with all stakeholders to ensure and review the arrangements so far done as per the guidelines of APSC for smooth, free and fair conduct of this examination, in the presence of a representative of APSC in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office at Kajalgaon.

During the meeting, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) and in-charge of examination conduct body, Nirmali Baruah informed that as per the guidelines of APSC, the Chirang district administration had decided to conduct the Combined Competitive (Preliminary) Examination with strict adherence to existing COVID-19 protocols. She informed that all the candidates appearing in this examination must wear face mask, face shield and hand gloves. They must go through thermal scanning prior to entering the examination hall. ADC Baruah also stated that while coming to the examination centres, the candidates who had already taken at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, are not required to produce negative RT-PCR/RAT test report, but they have to bring hard copies of the vaccine certificates. However, she advised all those candidates who are yet to be vaccinated to bring RT-PCR and RAT negative reports of test done within 72 hours and 48 hours respectively. She also asked the candidates to reach the examination venue 1 hour before the commencement of examination and to bring with them only blue or black ball-point pens for use in the examination. Further, she informed that candidates would not be allowed to use pencils, geometry boxes, water bottles, books, papers, bags, including any electronic gadgets like mobile phones, wrist watch, calculators, bluetooth devices, cameras, pen drives in the examination.

"In case of detecting COVID positive in the RAT test, the same candidate will not be allowed to appear in the examination while the candidates found with temperature in the thermal test will be allowed to sit in the examination in a separate room arranged for sick candidates," she added.

In his speech, Deputy Commissioner Narendra Kumar Shah asked the Superintendent of Police, Chirang, Pranjit Borah to intensify security arrangements during the examination, Joint Director Health Services to engage sufficient doctors and nurses for COVID screening of all candidates and for implementation of COVID appropriate behavior, Assistant Executive Engineer of Public Health Engineering to fully sanitize all the rooms of both the centres, Subdivisional Electrical Officer to arrange for uninterrupted power supply and the Principal of UN Brahma Senior Secondary School and Head Master of Kajalgaon High School to cooperate with the district administration for successful conduct of the ensuing APSC examination.

The meeting also touched the issues related to ongoing COVID vaccination drive in the district. According to Deputy Commissioner Narendra Kumar Shah, there were around 1,30,000 people in the district yet to be vaccinated against the total target of 3,58,000. He said, "In this regard, the district administration has prepared to set up vaccination centres at all the medical sub-centres and health institutions for massive vaccination drive for the benefit of people. In these vaccination centres, the vaccination process will start from Friday."

The Deputy Commissioner appealed to those citizens who had still not taken the coronavirus vaccine to get vaccinated soon at their nearest vaccination centres, adding that otherwise the administration would have to resort to stern action against such people.
