BONGAIGAON: Chirang reported a total of 29 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of positive cases in the district to 233, the district health department informed on Thursday.

The district now has 68 active positive cases while the number of people who have recovered in the district is 165.

Among the 29 fresh positive cases, 28 were found positive from Bijni civil subdivision, which include three from Bijni Bandhan Bank, six from Alukhunda, one from 108 staff under Betagaon CHC and 18 from Bijni town, when Rapid Antigen Tests were carried out. One positive case was recorded at Sidli PHC under Kajalgaon Sadar subdivision on the day. They have been shifted to Subhaijhar Model Hospital, which started functioning as designated COVID-19 Care Centre from Thursday.
