CISF unit at NRL Numaligarh observes Van Mahotsav Week

NUMALIGARH: In observance of the Van Mahotsav Week, on Thursday CISF unit NRL Numaligarh, in collaboration with the Forest Department and local residents near Bishnupur, planted about 400 saplings in and around the Kalpataru Naamghar Bishnupur. Speaking during the drive, CISF Deputy Commandant Paul Chasie said that the drive was an initiative to institutionalize relationships with the people of Northeast and to protect and enrich the environment. He also said that by the end of the year, all the CISF units of North East Sector aimed to plant 50,000 saplings across the districts of Assam, Meghalaya and Nagaland.

Uma Chetia, president of Bishnupur Naamghar, thanked the CISF and forest personnel for bringing about positivity amongst the local populace. The forest officials led by Beat Officer of Numaligarh, Jayanta Goswami, said that more such programmes should be organized in the coming days for which the Forest Department was always willing to contribute.
