TEZPUR: The All Assam Civic Body Employees' Association, Tezpur chapter has urged the government to fulfil their long pending demands.

In a bid to discuss about their future work-plan, the civic body convened a citizens' meet on Friday in the office of the Tezpur Municipality Board wherein the Tezpur chapter secretary of the association, Prabin Borah said that the association demanded the implementation of the Regularization of Civic Body Employees' Bill, 2014 (as per the cabinet decision taken on September 4, 2013).

"We also demand the government to release the salary of the employees that is pending for about 27 months and to announce a fixed staffing pattern as per the resolution passed in the cabinet under the 4th Finance Commission 2013," Prabin Borah said, adding that the association also demanded the government to regularize the posts of the cleaners and the sweepers engaged on contractual basis in different Municipality Boards across the State with a fixed staffing pattern.

The secretary of the association further demanded the government to stop the illegal appointment process carried out in different civic bodies in the State and to provide all facilities, including salary, to the civic body employees working in Sixth Schedule areas taking them under the State Finance Commission.

"We demand the government to clear the pending salaries of the retired employees of the civic bodies and introduce pension policy for them like the employees of Guwahati Municipality Board," Bora said.

He added that in protest against the government's apathetic attitude towards their long-pending demands, the association would stage a series of protests in the district headquarters across the State from Monday.

Ankur Nath, president of All Assam Civic Body Employees' Association, Tezpur chapter, and all staff of Tezpur Municipal Board were present in the citizens' meet.
