KOKRAJHAR: A cleanliness drive by Swima Aithing Group, (SAG) a small group of morning walkers of Kokrajhar town was brought out on Tuesday in the new flyover road to aware the citizens of Kokrajhar on health and hygiene. The members of SAG gathered on the road early in the morning and picked up plastics thrown on the roadside. They cleaned up the roadside plastics in the flyover portion where other fellows who used to walk in the morning joined the noble work carried out by SAG.

Talking to a select media person, ex army major Subedar Charan Basumatary said a group of persons who used to walk in the morning everyday started the cleanliness drive in new flyover zone couple of years back to bring awareness among the people on cleanliness. It may be mentioned that the SAG of Kokrajhar could draw the attention of Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma two years back and subsequently, the noble work of the group got mentioned in the “Mann ki Baat” programme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Modi hailed the group in his “Mann ki Baat” programme.
