The closing ceremony of the golden jubilee celebration of Nagaon Zila Sahitya Sabha started here at Sahityacharya Janjaswar Sarma Khetra

NAGAON: With a three-day long programme, the closing ceremony of the golden jubilee celebration of Nagaon Zila Sahitya Sabha started here at Sahityacharya Janjaswar Sarma Khetra at Nagaon Nehrubali field from Friday onwards.

The programme was initiated with hoisting of 50 flags of Axam Xahitya Xabha on Friday morning in which the main flag was unfurled by Paran Kr Boruah, president, Nagaon Zila Xahitya Xabha while the 50 ceremonial lights were led by Mrinal Hazarika, secretary to Nagaon regional office, Axam Xahitya Xabha, in presence of local MLA Rupak Sarma and former minister Girindra Kr Boruah.

During the day, freedom fighter Rajanikanta Bora memorial well-wishers' and lifetime members' conclave as well as interaction was held. The programme was inaugurated by Dr Naren Kalita, noted scholar of Shankari culture and traditions. Dr Paramananda Rajbongshi, former president of Axam Xahitya Xabha and the current BJP MLA of Sipahjar constituency was present in the programme as the chief guest. During the programme, Jadav Chandra Sarma, secretary general of Axam Xahitya Xabha was also present. Books penned by Atul Chandra Kakoti, Ranjana Bora, Dr Bhadra Kanta Bora and Dilip Kumar Bora were also ceremonially released during the programme. The closing ceremony of the golden jubilee celebration will conclude on Sunday.
