CM Himanta attends series of developmental programmes in Biswanath district

The Assam government has also included the historic Biswanath district to take forward the Bhagirathi Yatra of development among the people.

BISWANATH CHARIALI: The Assam government has also included the historic Biswanath district to take forward the Bhagirathi Yatra of development among the people. Biswanath district has also been covered under the scheme titled 'A Fortnight for Development' covering 11 districts of the State. As a part of this, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma participated in two massive public meetings in Biswanath district on Saturday.

The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of 17 development projects covering all the assembly constituencies Biswanath, Behali, Gohpur and Chatia under Biswanath district through digital channels covering a total cost of Rs 425.7504 crore and also inaugurated newly constructed two projects.

In the first meeting held at the Kamalakanta Kshetra at Biswanath Chariali, Dr Sarma laid the foundation stones of the ambitious schemes to be implemented in this historic district including Integrated Deputy Commissioner's Office of Biswanath District, the Circuit House at Biswanath Chariali, the proposed District Sports Project at Biswanath Chariali, the newly established Assam Police Battalion's office project at Pabhoi (Diring) in Biswanath, a dyke along the 8-km stretch from Biswanathghat to Panpur, a government polytechnic institute and industrial training institute upgradation project at Chatia. Similarly, laying the foundation stone for the modernization and development project of Dikorai Wholesale Market under Chatia Assembly constituency, five km long road connecting the National Highway 15 to Pahukta and five km long road connecting the National Highway 15 to Amdaiguri, prevention of erosion on the left side of the Solengi River and reconstruction work of other affected areas in Gohpur assembly constituency were also done by him.

On the other hand, on the same day, the Chief Minister attended the second huge public meeting at Janata Bakori, Bedeti under Behali constituency. The ambitious schemes in Behali constituency of which the foundation stones were laid included erosion prevention measures to protect Behali Batiamari and its adjoining areas from the erosion of the Brahmaputra River, Behali Mini Stadium, the Maran Gaon Nachbor Road, a government polytechnic institute and upgradation of industrial training institute at Behali. He also inaugurated the newly-constructed Sadbhavana Bhawan at Behali and the auditorium built in the premises of Behali Development Block office, respectively.

Both the meetings were attended by Biswanath Guardian Minister Pijush Hazarika, Tezpur Lok Sabha Constituency MP Pallab Lochan Das, the MLAs from the district Pramod Borthakur, Ranjit Dutta, Padma Hazarika and Utpal Borah.
